Washington Township is in the Pascack Valley of northern Bergen County and is next to towns such as Ho-Ho-Kus, Westwood, Hillsdale, and Emerson. The Washington Township Center is a small shopping mall with many stores such as a Rite Aid, A&P and a Movie theater. The town also has a few restaurants that are very good including, Bacari Grill, Lili’s Bistro, and the Dog House Saloon and Grill. The town offers many sports and activities through their recreation department like baseball, softball, soccer, and football. In addition, the town has many parks and fields throughout town such as Clark field, which has a little league baseball field, playground, basketball courts, and a concession stand. Schlegel Lake is considered the town's lake and is open for fishing boating and picnicking for the members of the Washington Lake Association.
As far as schooling goes, publicly, all children go to Westwood Regional School District from K-12. Students are also allowed to attend public institutions such as Bergen Academies or the Bergen County Technical Schools. Immaculate Heart Academy is a private all girl school and it is in the town. The Garden State Parkway and County Route 502 travel through the town and connect it many Bergen County towns and allows easy access to New York City. Residents of the town can use the Westwood line of the NJ Transit Bus route that takes commuters to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Mid-town Manhattan. Train service to NY is available via Westwood.
