Old Tappan is in northern NJ and is surrounded by Pearl River, River Vale, Harrington Park, Northvale, and Norwood. The Lake Tappan Reservoir is in town and is owned by United Water. The town has many parks like Stone Point Park which has many baseball fields and basketball courts. The town also is home to a 9-hole golf course, it is a private club but the public can access the club but for a small fee.
The Old Tappan Public Schools offer K-8 schooling at two schools, T. Baldwin Demarest Elementary School (K-4) and Charles DeWolf Middle School (5-8). Students for high school have the option to attend Northern Valley Regional at Old Tappan, or Northern Valley Regional at Demarest. In addition, students can attend any of the private catholic high schools or any of the Bergen County schools.
Rockland Coaches provides a commuter bus service to the Port Authority Bus terminal in Midtown Manhattan from Old Tappan. Old Tappan has a multitude of nice restaurants including Bensi, The Old ’76 House, and Mario’s Pizza. Old Tappan has an annual town day that includes many family type events and it ends with a fireworks show.
